The gorgeous Mahira Khan will make you watch this surreal Morey Saiyan’s short version again and again for all the right reasons.

Will the tables turn in Cheekh?

Notwithstanding ARY Digital’s continuous success by churning out uber flamboyant dramas one after another, Cheekh is an exceptional one. It has been immensely impactful throughout all these episodes. The transition it exhibits keeps all viewers glued to the screens.

It starts off with three friends living their best lives and two families. The Taseer family consists of three brothers, Wajih, Shayan and Yawer. Shayan lives abroad while his wife Mannat lives with the family. They also have a sister named Haya. The second family consists of a father, his children including Nayab and his wife, who is Nayab’s stepmother.

Mannat, Haya and Nayab are childhood friends and the reason Mannat is a part of their family is that she is Haya’s best friend and she got her married to Shayan. On the other hand, Nayab likes Wajih and Haya wants her to marry him too.

However, in a turn of events, Wajih murders Nayab and blames it on his friend. After spending hours into the jail, Wajih bribes the investigating police officer heavily so that he could not speak against him in spite of Nayab’s statement on her deathbed that goes against Wajih.

Mannat refuses to stay silent because her deceased best friend’s body had marks of a physical assault. She decides to legally fight against Wajih and leaves no stones unturned to do so. Wajih and Yawer also try their best to let her down, so much so that Wajih accuses her of having an affair with Haya’s fiance. He also releases a video on social media, claiming Mannat liked him and wanted to be with him.

This angers Haya and she starts hating Mannat. Moreover, when Shayan comes back to the country, he also questions her loyalty to the family. However, when he observes everything keenly, he figures out there is something wrong with the intentions of his brothers.

So he decides to take Mannat to another house for safety and pledges to fully support his wife throughout the proceedings. On the other hand, Yawer and Wajih hire a top-notch lawyer to fight on their behalf. Not only do they bribe the policemen, but they also victimize Mannat and everyone near her. Wajih makes Nayab’s father leave his house with his family, only to become homeless. However, the friend he blamed takes them to his own house.

Haya also gets to know of reality through Wajih. He tells her that he lied to everyone about Mannat. His friend also exposes him in front of Haya but the damage has already been done. Wajih breaks her emotionally by killing her unborn son intentionally. On top of it, his lawyer proves her to be a psychiatric patient by bribing a doctor and by threatening her mother. They take her to the mental asylum amid tears and helplessness.

Guilty of lying for the sake of her daughter, Mannat’s mother dies of remorse. Shayan brings Mannat back to home for the funeral promising her for a safe return from the asylum. Upon her return to the asylum, the doctor bribed by Wajih injects sedatives into her hands, which makes her really sick.

Shayan and Nayab’s mother somehow manage to bring her home. One day, Wajih comes with a bouquet but after an intense argument, he pushes Shayan fiercely. Shayan falls and due to excessive blood loss, he leaves Mannat forever.

Wajih, on the other hand, confesses killing his elder brother in front of Yawer. Police asks Mannat if Wajih killed her husband but she denies. Instead, she tells the police officer that she thinks Wajih has nothing to do with her husband’s death. She goes to Wajih and tells him she will fight this battle the way he has been fighting it. Wajih is remorseful on his brother’s sad demise but the devil inside him makes him believe he is right.

Celebrities wish Humayun Saeed on his 48th birthday

Baaji wins two accolades in the prestigious Mosaic Film Festival

It is not long ago when all Pakistani cinema enthusiasts were over the moon before the release of Meera’s Baaji. The movie got exceptional praise in all horizons of the world for its powerful script, flamboyant ensemble cast, and grand screenplay.

Soon after its release on 28th June 2019, the movie instantly garnered appreciation and critical acclaim in Pakistan and across the world. The movie is not only running successfully in the cinemas, but it has also added feathers to its cap by getting screened at the seventh Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival (MISAFF), which is considered as North America’s most prestigious film showcase for South Asia.

Countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Italy, Canada, and the UK have participated in the festival by submitting feature films, documentaries, and short films.

Apart from screening, the movie has also accumulated two accolades at the festival for the grandeur it offers. Baaji has won the Jury Prize and the award for Best Supporting Actor is won by the veteran actor Nayyar Ejaz at MISAFF. However, Ali Kazmi is the runner-up of the same category.

The winner, Nayyar Ejaz has taken to Instagram to post a screenshot of director Saqib Malik’s Whatsapp conversation. The message says, “Everyone I am proud to let you know that Baaji has won two awards at MISAFF. It won the Grand Jury Prize for its overall excellence and popularity in the festival and it also won Best Supporting Actor for Nayyar Ejaz. This is a huge honor for all of us as MISAFF is the largest and most renown festival for South Asian cinema in North America. It also has a very sophisticated jury and excellent reach. So thank you to each one of you for making this happen.” He also praises Nayyar on his win.

The lead actress of the movie, Meera Jee has also posted a video congratulating the team of Baaji and to urge her fans to go and watch the movie if they have not, as of now.

Zihaal-e-Miskin is all about heartbreaks

And just when the highly anticipated Pakistani flick Parey Hut Love is all set to sprinkle its charm to the screens in the country, the last, but certainly one of the best video songs from the movie has just been released and it looks surreal, just the way it sounded. Zihaal-e-Miskin is a juxtaposition of festivities and quagmire in the lives of both the lead protagonists, Sheheryar Munawar, and Maya Ali.

Zihaal e MiskeenThe video starts with Sheheryar praying with his eyes all red due to the sorrow his heart oozes in a residence filled with laughter, colorful flowers, happiness, and excitement. Meanwhile, Maya is also getting dressed up for what appears to be a pivotal event of her life. She looks astounding and radiant but her heart is gloomy in spite of consistent struggle of Zara Noor Abbas to cheer her up.

Cheekh ends but it will be remembered for a long time

So the extensively watched Pakistani drama, Cheekh has just ended and it truly depicted the real face of the society we live in; powerful men getting away with murders easily. However, the drama has delineated Mannat as an epitome of resilience and resistance in the face of oppression and injustice.

With the 30th episode, not only has the drama ended, but the blatant cruelty by Wajih also ends. Mannat has been a legit lioness throughout the entire duration of the episode that not even Aqil Zaada dared to ask questions from the people she called to the balustrade.

Cheekh has been a literal rollercoaster ride of emotions. Fans have been over the moon watching how Shayan went against his brothers to stand with his wife because he believed in her, for the chemistry they had, for the baby they were going to have. However, spectators were taken aback when Yawer chose to help Wajih in spite of knowing he is a murderer, when Wajih stoop too low by making a video against Mannat and spreading it on social media, when Mannat and Shayan’s unborn baby died, when Mannat’s mother died, and when the love of her life, Shayan was killed in cold blood.

The 30th and the last episode of Cheekh proved no matter how powerful or mighty you think you are, what goes around comes around and karma will be served because it is a process led by nature. After an exceptional performance by Mannat in the courtroom, Wajih gets served with the death sentence for not only killing Nayab but also for killing Mannat’s child, mother and husband.

Cheekh is more than just a drama for the cast, for us and for the viewers across the world, so much so that the last episode of the drama is trending at number 2 on Youtube. The pivotal fragments of the ensemble cast took to Instagram to write heartfelt notes about their experience working in Cheekh.

The prima donna, Saba Qamar also shares a photo from the last episode captioning it with a Terminator 2 quotation, “I know now why you cry. But it’s something I can never do.” She goes on to tell how was Cheekh more than just a mere project, “Indeed, it is extremely hard to bid farewell to something attached to your Heart. I always try my best to put in my heart and soul into my work to give you guys the best. Cheekh was not just a project for me it was an emotional roller coaster ride which was not just difficult but it was also very hard.”

Ayeza Khan as Mehwish is a beautiful girl from a middle-class family. She is married to Danish who loves her immensely. She has certain expectation from life which Danish is unable to fulfill.

Rehmat Ajmal as Aisha and Furqan Qureshi as Salman are the mutual friends of both Mehwish and Danish who are always there for them in time of need.

Hira Salman as Hania is the teacher of Roomi, Mehwish and Danish’s son. She is also the daughter of Danish’s colleague, Mateen Sahab.

The drama is a story of a normal middle-class family having the husband as its breadwinner. Danish is a government employee and has an average wage of PKR 40,000-50,000 per month. He has a son who is old enough to start his schooling. Mehwish is Danish’s better half who is the homemaker of the family. Danish does not want her to go out to work because of their child.

Watching the first episode gives us a depiction that they have a happy-go-lucky family that goes out to spend some quality time every Sunday. Singer Taylor Swift helps a Pakistani student

A Pakistani student has thanked the singer Taylor Swift after the latter paid her tuition fees.

Ayesha Khurram who is all set to enter her second year at the University of Waterloo in the department of accounting and financial management had taken to Instagram speaking of her financial struggles.

She had created a PayPal account on her friend’s suggestion for funds. After a few hours of the creation of the PayPal account, Ayesha got a notification that the songstress Taylor Swift sent her $6,386.47 CAD for her tuition fees.

The email said, “Ayesha, get your learn on girl! I love you! Taylor.” Filled with excitement, Ayesha captions the photo with, “I have no words and i can’t stop crying. i don’t have words i don’t have words i don’t have words i can’t stop crying.”

Surkh Chandni | Aida and Amaan are finally happy

Surkh Chandni certainly is a magnum opus in the history of Pakistani television for, it caters a harsh reality of our society with complete subtlety. The drama delves not just in the life of a helpless acid attack victim, but also in the lives of her family members. Perhaps Surkh Chandni can be called the journey of a person from an acid attack victim to an acid attack survivor.

It is the love story of Aida and Amaan but tranquility does not come easy at all. Surkh Chandni is the depiction of the brutal society we live in, a society that does not let anyone live in harmony. All set to get married to Amaan, Aida gets a proposal from her neighbor Jawad. After the refusal, frustrated Jawad collaborates with Aida’s sister-in-law Shumaila to throw acid on her face, that too on her wedding day.

With her face burnt, Aida experiences the cruel society all by herself, with little support of her family. Her brother becomes a part of the inhumane neighborhood she lives in; blaming her for the sins she never committed. Her only beam of hope are her parents and Amaan but in a turn of events, her father commits suicide leaving behind a handicapped family.

Months pass by and she finally marries Amaan but Jawad conspires to keep making her life miserable, so much so that she decides to run away, and starts living in a shelter house just because she did not want anything bad to happen to Amaan. Amaan, on the other hand, decides to visit the shelter house but on Aida’s instructions, they tell him that she is not there. However, the head of the shelter house tells her how devoted he is and she must get back to him for a fulfilling life.

Meanwhile, Jawad and Shumaila conspire to send Mukhtar to Hyderabad so that they would keep their affair intact and hassle-free. In the latest episode, Mukhtar and Aida’s mother hears their plan to murder Mukhtar if he does not sign the divorce papers and decides to run away to Amaan’s house.

On the other hand, Amaan goes to the shelter and gets the surprise that was waiting for him. Head of the shelter amid other acid attack survivors pay adieu to Aida. They also inform Amaan that he is expecting a child. Aida comes to her husband’s home and to her surprise, sees her mother sitting there. Her mother asks to call Amaan and his mother and informs them about Shumaila and Jawad’s affair and their plan to kill Mukhtar.

After months of struggle and chaos, Aida and Amaan are happy that they are finally together. Surkh Chandni is so captivating that each episode gets hundreds of thousands of views on Youtube. The attention-grabbing storyline is the main factor and so is the immensely flamboyant acting by all the actors. Be it Aida, played by Sohai Ali Abro or Amaan, played by Osman Khalid Butt, the level of acting they have set is unrivaled. Coming to the antagonists, Jawad, played by Asad Siddiqui has epitomized the concept of a villain with his intense performance.
